2026 promises to be a festive year for the legendary St-Denis Theatre.
Montreal, Tuesday, March 31, 2026 — A cornerstone of Montreal’s cultural life for over a century, Espace St-Denis is much more than a performance venue: it is one of the most structural entertainment and cultural broadcasting complexes in Quebec, welcoming an average of over 650,000 visitors per year. Rooted in the heart of the Latin Quarter, it serves as the primary cultural lever that animates and unites this territory, while playing a leading role in the vitality of the Quartier des Spectacles—representing 7% of total performing arts revenue in Montreal. Through its unique programming, historical reputation, and its role as an identity marker for French-speaking culture, Espace St-Denis stands as an institution whose influence radiates far beyond its walls.
2026 promises to be a festive year for the legendary St-Denis Theatre. One hundred and ten years after opening its doors, this founding institution of Montreal culture is preparing for a series of major highlights that will celebrate both its glorious past and its future: a significant investment, exceptional programming, heritage initiatives, and a new visual identity. Every action taken this year bears the mark of an anniversary worthy of the unique place the theatre holds in the Quebec collective imagination.
The anniversary is accompanied by a major announcement: a three-million-dollar investment from private funds has just been injected into the St-Denis Theatre to modernize its equipment and upgrade its infrastructure to current industry standards.
Far more than a technical upgrade, this investment is an act of economic and cultural development. By enhancing the versatility and appeal of the Theatre, Espace St-Denis consolidates its role as an economic and cultural engine for the Latin Quarter. This announcement follows directly from actions taken to celebrate the St-Denis Theatre and ensure its relevance and longevity.
"This investment is part of a structural approach aimed at consolidating the St-Denis Theatre's position as a major cultural hub. By investing private funds to raise our technical standards, we increase our attractiveness to producers and actively contribute to the dynamism of the Quartier des Spectacles/Latin Quarter and the Quebec cultural ecosystem." — Jacques Aubé, President and CEO of Espace St-Denis
To mark this anniversary, Espace St-Denis will present a series of signature shows that will define the year. This programming reflects collaborations with international artists, the hosting of major world-class hit productions, and the promotion of local creations that celebrate Quebec identity.

Additional signature shows will be announced in the coming months to punctuate the anniversary year.
Espace St-Denis is currently undergoing a brand identity refresh, which will be rolled out progressively across all its digital and print tools.
This new identity—more modern and consistent with its artistic vision and history—will be further unveiled in the coming weeks, particularly during the launch of the new website scheduled for April. Furthermore, the Studio-Cabaret will henceforth be known as Studio St-Denis to strengthen the overall identity of the complex.
In parallel, a series of web capsules will be deployed across Espace St-Denis’ various platforms. This content will feature artistic personalities who have marked the past decades, offering a poignant and contemporary look at the history and impact of the St-Denis Theatre.
The year 2026 marks much more than an anniversary for Espace St-Denis: it embodies the reaffirmation of a long-term commitment to the culture, identity, and influence of Quebec culture. The revitalization of the Latin Quarter depends on a modern and vibrant Espace St-Denis. Through its celebrations, investments, and initiatives, Espace St-Denis is not only looking back at its past—it is laying the foundations for the next 110 years.
