Based on the cult 1983 film, FLASHDANCE – The Musical tells the story of Alexandra "Alex" Owens, a young welder from Pittsburgh who splits her time between working at a steel mill by day and dancing at a club by night. Behind this double life lies a dream: to get into the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy and turn her passion for dance into a career. As she tries to pave her own path toward the life she aspires to lead, an unexpected romance challenges her world and her ambitions. Facing social barriers, self-doubt, and numerous obstacles along the way, Alex must find the courage to believe in herself and seize her chance. It is a story of love, friendship, and empowerment led by a determined young woman driven to assert herself and fulfill her dreams.
Director, writer, adapter, and actor, Frédéric Bélanger has been working on the Quebec stage for over 20 years.
